Getting the most out of your DocNation membership
If you just activated your DocNation membership and are looking for the basics on how to get the most out of it, start here.
Getting started
Welcome to DocNation. In this brief guide we cover all the basics on how to activate your membership, what’s included, and how to get the most value out of every benefit — from your first practice audit to your annual compensation review.
If you’re new to DocNation, we recommend you also browse our video library and the blog for the full context behind the movement.
Activate your membership
Let’s get started by activating your DocNation Advocacy Membership.
Confirm your account
After you complete the Become an Advocacy Member form, you’ll receive a confirmation email within a few minutes. Click the activation link to set your password and access the member dashboard.
If you don’t see the email, check your spam folder and add hello@docnation.com to your contacts so future communications land in your inbox.
Set your member profile
In the member dashboard, complete your profile — specialty, years in practice, location, NPI (optional), and your top three career priorities. This is what we use to match you with the right specialist when you request a service, and to surface advocacy news that’s relevant to your scope of practice.
You can update your profile anytime. The more accurate it is, the faster every interaction with DocNation becomes.
Pick your communication preferences
From the dashboard, choose how often you want to hear from us — weekly digest, monthly newsletter, or only when something urgent (a Medicare bill vote, a contract trend in your region) needs your attention. The default is monthly; most members keep it there.
Your member benefits
Your $15/month (or $150/year) Advocacy Membership comes packed with five concrete benefits, plus everything we add at no extra cost over time.
1. Annual Practice Audit
A comprehensive review of your practice’s operations, contracts, and finances to spot risks and areas for improvement. Our team checks legal compliance, ensures your contracts work in your favor, and suggests ways to boost revenue and protect your independence.
2. Individual Quarterly Meetings with Leadership
Personalized advice and insights on practice management, career challenges, and growth strategies — direct conversation with our experienced leadership team, four times a year.
3. Access to Member Collaboration & Networking Events
Forge connections, exchange ideas, and network with peers at our member-exclusive events designed to foster collaboration and growth across specialties and regions.
4. Your Input Shared with Lobbyists
We ensure your insights and concerns are shared with our lobbying team, influencing healthcare policies that matter to you. A portion of every membership fee directly funds this advocacy work.
5. Annual Compensation Audit
Every member gets a yearly compensation audit to ensure you’re receiving what you deserve — benchmarked against MGMA, Sullivan Cotter, and DocNation’s own physician network data for your specialty and region.
Using each benefit
Here’s how to actually book each benefit once you’re logged in.
Booking your Practice Audit
From your dashboard, click Schedule Practice Audit. Pick a 60-minute slot that works for you. We’ll send a short intake form 48 hours before — operating agreements, current employment contract, last year’s P&L summary. We don’t need raw data, just enough context to make the call substantive.
Scheduling Leadership Meetings
Your four quarterly meetings unlock automatically — one at the start of each quarter. You’ll get an email with a booking link. Skipped quarters don’t roll forward (we want the cadence to do the work), so keep a recurring reminder.
Joining networking events
Member events show up in the Events tab of your dashboard. RSVP at least 48 hours ahead so we can size the room. Most events are virtual; in-person meetups happen 2–3 times a year in major U.S. cities.
Sharing your voice with our lobbying team
Use the Submit Issue form in your dashboard whenever you want a specific concern carried into our policy work — Medicare reimbursement, EMR vendor practices, hospital consolidation in your market, restrictive covenants. We don’t pretend every submission becomes a bill, but the patterns absolutely shape our brief to lobbyists.
Booking the Compensation Audit
Available once per calendar year from your dashboard. The audit benchmarks your total compensation (salary, RVU bonuses, profit share, benefits, signing & retention) against our internal dataset plus public sources. You’ll get a written report and a 30-minute review call.
Upgrading to
SignatureIf Advocacy gives you the floor of physician advocacy and routine reviews, Signature Membership gives you the same level of influence professional athletes wield — a dedicated 24/7 concierge service staffed with specialists across every relevant discipline (contracts, financial planning, practice management, malpractice, advocacy, brand management).
To request Signature pricing, head to the Signature services page or message your member success contact. Pricing is tailored to your practice; we send a complimentary review audit before any commitment.
When you upgrade, your Advocacy enrollment carries forward — unused portion of your annual fee is credited against the Signature engagement, and we skip the onboarding audit if yours is current.
DocNation
member supportAs you’ve seen above, DocNation is built to make every benefit easy to schedule and easy to use. Your dashboard is the main door.
If you ever run into trouble, need help, or just want to flag something the team should know, send us an email at hello@docnation.com — we’ll get back within 1–2 business days.
Beyond Advocacy
If you’re looking for one-off help with a single service rather than a full membership — a contract review, a non-compete negotiation, a relocation plan — you can request a complimentary review through our Signature Services page without joining DocNation.
Frequently asked questions
Can I share my membership with my spouse or partner?
Memberships are individual to one physician. Compensation and contract reviews are tied to your career data and license. If your partner is also a physician, they need their own membership.
Is the practice audit covered if I don’t have my own practice?
Yes. For employed physicians the audit reviews your contract, comp plan, schedule, malpractice tail, and exit terms instead of a P&L. Same hour, same depth.
Are quarterly meetings recorded?
No. Member meetings are off the record — we want you saying what you actually think.
Do you handle international physicians?
DocNation is currently U.S. focused. Most of the advocacy and reimbursement work is U.S.-specific. If you practice abroad but trained in or hold U.S. credentials, write us and we’ll let you know if we can help.
